2010 starts with a bang at the Holiday Inn Denver Lakewood - They have replaced the old, dated gift shop for a new high-tech business center that our corporate guests have been asking for. The business center features updated all-in-one computers and a small meeting area in a spacious comfortable room off of the lobby.
In addition, management is replacing the toilets with a new high efficiency model - installation started yesterday and is due to be completed by mid-February. But this green Denver-area hotel doesn't stop there in their commitment to the environment -- the new kitchen exhaust fan and tempered make-up air installation (installed yesterday) is expected to result in the food at the Sporting News Grill being served hotter, the kitchen staff being more comfortable and hopefully result in a decrease in utility consumption. Denver Hotel Conservation Efforts Paying Off
The Holiday Inn Denver Lakewood has been busy. Not only have they spent the past 2 years making dramatic changes in the hotels' physical appearance, they've also made major strides in their conservation efforts. Here are some of the amazing results:
- Electricity: Hotel has reduced electric consumption by 184,320 kwh in 2008 v 2007
- Natural Gas: Hotel has reduced natural gas consumption by 1,500 therms in 2008 v 2007
- Carbon Dioxide: As a result of the Electric and Natural Gas conservation noted, we reduced our carbon footprint by 174.2 tons
- Water: Hotel reduced water consumption by 547,000 gallons in 2008 vs 2007
* In 2009 we are on track to consume substantially less than in 2008 in all categories.
